  • the criteria for your comment getting pinned differs so much in every video that every comment is insane for like the first 2 minutes

    • Good job 👏

    • @《PT》 ursine exhj u

    • @Zahir Zion instablaster =)

    • I guess Im randomly asking but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my account password. I love any tips you can offer me

    • ok

  • Brooklyn nine-nine is one of the best sitcoms that’s so funny

  • Laugh tracks are done by dead people

  • have you seen What We Do in The Shadows? one of the funniest movies/shows ive seen in a long time, and one that really wouldnt work if they had used a laugh track

  • The intro was the first time i laughed on this channel

  • I had an VCR during the 90s I always recorded my shows and fast-forward all the ads. I also got to watch all the late night airing of movies.

  • Did you know that on the DVD of M*A*S*H you can turn the laugh track off

  • Imagine insulting Schitt's Creek in 2020

  • I know this video game out a while ago, but If you ever check this comment section again, I suggest you to stick with Schitts Creek, Watching the Rose family grow into better people is just so satisfying. Season One is good, Season Two is great, and the rest are some of the best Seasons of television.

  • I think how i met your mother balances comedy and emotion very well

  • Thank god the laugh tracks are gone! I hated them and they are ruining my experience in watching the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

  • if you ever do another, add that 70s show pls lmao

  • That clip of TBBT annoys me because, why didn’t they just shill out money to get like MTG to use that nerdy card game? Instead they created a fake one that is just nerdy war essentially. And it makes it just stupid.

  • im so happy to see the IT Crowd in this video, idk maybe its just I can relate to it more than American shows, but I have watched all 6 shows mentioned in this video but the IT Crowd remains the funniest show I have ever watched

  • The statistician/researcher in me is truly satisfied with the kind of study that Drew conducted for arriving at this analysis. Also, watching those pages full of tally marks was somehow so satisfying.🤓

  • wasnt the IT crowd made by the super transphobe that got divorced and banned from twitter cause he was rabidly transphobic and a self-proclaimed " anti-trans activist " soooooo

  • I like it, not only do I just tune it out a lot after watching bug bang theory so many times, it helps me laugh, since I find things funny but don’t laugh much, the added laughter feels like there’s others laughing and I laugh along too

  • Someone made me watch Letterkenny the other night and it brought me back to this video because that show has to completely break the jokes-per-minute metric.

  • Man, that 7th joke in the compilation was a riot! I never laughed so hard for so long.

  • I do understand his point and love a few modern shows without laugh tracks. I still fully enjoy Friends and HIMYM though

  • The middle is a superior show

  • "The boy who cried laugh" 🤣🤣🤣very good example

  • Schitt$ Creek is more of a watch it to watch the characters "grow" and enjoy their stories kind of comedy. It's got some very funny moments, some.... less than funny funny moments, and some decent emotional content in some episodes. I highly recommend it over BBT.

  • I just need to know where that shirt comes from.

  • Drew did a whole ass research project. Well played! That must've taken forever! Sidenote: If there's anything I hate more than canned laughter, it's The Big Bang Theory. They were playing an off brand version of Magic the Gathering and it counted as 4 jokes! Well played! 😞

  • Lol I liked after the Dick Wolf credits ran. If that was the entire video, it woulda been on my Oprah-esque "favorite things" list

  • "oh hi Mark" *laugh track*

  • Drew I know the shows are all over now but.... spoilers T_T

  • Omg how can you have never watched schitts creek!?!?! Please tell me you watched it after this?!

  • Before this video began proper, I got an ad of a little girl crying and saying she didn’t want to die after being diagnosed with leukaemia. I had to pause it because I also started crying and I felt horrible that I couldn’t donate and then fucking Drew Gooden came in with his laugh track and glasses and now I am crying more what the hell this is the worst day

  • "I'm Disabled", my favorite episode of anything. XD

  • You should do this with the show that got canceled after 6 episodes for having to many jokes.

  • I think the "shift" has come from a new generation of overly cynical people who earn "cred" by ripping on anything. Older generations understand it as mindless entertainment and are happy to laugh along.

  • "there's something about the static predictable rhythm of sitcom audio at a low volume that puts my mind at ease" EXACTLY.

  • I like big bang theory

  • Schitt's Creek is the best show out of all of these

  • And trial & error!

  • BROOOO WATCH SPACED YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT ITS THE FUNNIEST

  • I fall asleep to It's Always Sunny or Modern Family if I want something wholesome.

  • Interestingly the creators of "MASH" did not want a laugh track and fought hard to stop it from happening. Unfortunately they lost. Interesting because of how long ago that show started.

  • I genuinely can’t watch TV in the US because of the constant commercial breaks. 9 minutes of ads in and around a 21 minute show is unacceptable.

  • Am I the only one who feels like laugh tracks make me LESS likely to laugh?

  • Scrubs was also a fantastic show...I don’t think they had laugh tracks...it was just genuinely hilarious for several years. Since I stopped watching TV and movies completely, almost 8 years ago now...I never even heard of some of the shows here.

  • Seinfeld should always be included in things like this...I’m not sure, but I’d guess it had the most #1 episodes and seasons of any comedy in the U.S., unless Big Bang Theory passed it. Having grown up watching Seinfeld, I still find it hilarious, even though I’ve heard it without laugh tracks where it clearly makes everyone come off as complete psychopaths. But then, it WAS known even at the time that they were all kind of terrible human beings...it simply is amplify by 1,000 times.

  • Ok ok ok ok. So this style is better, but this still has no statistical value. The sample size still isn't large enough and although these are independent, random samples, the study here can only prove that these specific episodes have more or less jokes per minute.

  • drew can you please make videos comparing married with children (ed o'neill) and the middle (patricia heaton)

  • IT. Crowd is great. The British have made some great tv. ie: The Royle family. Yes, Minister.

  • I really really really really hate laugh tracks.

  • The only time laugh track work was in mr bean, to be fair I only watch a few The Big Bang Theory episodes for shows with laugh track

  • You need to leave some space between sentences, my son got me to watch this, and it's interesting but the unnatural speech does my head in.

  • In the '50s-'60s the same laugh tracks were used over and over again for all different comedy shows. There was one particular laugh that appeared in EVERY show, which we called the "HA-hoo!" laugh. If you watch old I Love Lucys (and I don' t know why you would), just count the "HA-hoos". Then watch I Married Joan or Pete and Gladys, and hear the same "HA-hoo!" over and over again. Think how dead all these people are by now.

  • When did I start hating the laugh track?

  • Dude what about Seinfeld? every single one of those plotlines were woven together

  • Laugh tracks have never seemed ok to me

  • you should compare M*A*S*H with and without the canned laugh. the juxtaposition gets very lost with the laugh track and so such much better w/o it.

  • One whole year since it's upload.

  • The only thing I know about Schitts Creek is that one of the guys looks like Mr. Big from zootopia.

  • The absence of a laugh track is what makes malcolm in the middle the best show ever :)

  • I mean... Friends and Big Bang Theory are filmed in front of a live audience. So it's not "canned laughter" it's audience laughter. When you get that many fans together to sit through the 3 hour filming process they bring energy to the actors. I don't think we'll ever let the format die, because it is the most straightforward TV representation of people standing on a stage in front of other people trying to make them laugh.

  • Disney is the worst when it comes to laugh tracks

  • Can we all appreciate the sheer comedic genius of Young Sheldon. It’s Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory, but younger

  • Fuller house has the worst laugh track

  • I like laugh tracks because they make me feel like I’m not alone Also if I miss a joke I’ll hear the laugh track and know there was a joke, so I can go back and listen again

  • no it's always sunny in philladelpia??

  • 99% Invisible is an often awesome podcast that did an episode about the development of the laugh track, and some theories about why people were cool with it in the beginning, and grew to strongly dislike it.

  • You gotta watch Schitt's Creek in order! Grah!!!!

  • I didn’t watch it on purpose, but my family would watch Full House on Fridays (my late HS and early college years). That show killed the laugh track for me when I would hear it after every stupid line Michelle said, funny or not (mostly not).

  • I really like Frasier

  • The IT Crowd and Arrested Development are true gems. So simple and yet so entertaining.

  • What I hate the most about tbbt is that stupid song purr kitty or furr kitty or whatever the fuck the name is

  • I've never found Arrested Development funny and I gave it a huge chance and watched up to the last season. Schitt's Creek I tried, but not too hard because it just couldn't pull me in at all and I found it painfully unfunny.

  • Friends (‘comedy’): weird without the laugh track Young Sheldon (dry comedy): weird with the laugh track

  • I thought I was the only person that hated tbbt with a passion... It's not only not that funny, it has aged like fine milk in a hot summer day

  • One Day At A Time is the only show allowed to have laugh tracks, because it distracts me from my loud sobbing

  • I think Francis was still funny on the ranch, but when the boys went over there, it seemed like his character had been ruined

  • HE NEVER SEEN SCHITTS CREEK WHAT WHY HOLD ON WHAT IS WRON-

  • Two and Half Men season 1-8 best comedy show ever

  • I remember watching the Big Bang theory when I was 6-10 with my parents.. I’m now addicted to Young Sheldon..

  • I used to really like the I.T Crowd but i tried to go back to rewatch and couldn't stand the laugh track

  • Would’ve been interesting to see Frasier on that list

  • I don't understand using fake laughter when you have a real studio audience.

  • Nah there's still RTGame😂

  • I’m so glad you included the IT crowd in this. That show never has enough of an audience, and it deserves it.

  • I love big bang theory

  • Parks and Rec. {chef's kiss}

  • I'm the only young fan of TBBT left and I will defend it until the day I die

  • I hate Big Bang. Schitt’s Creek is refreshing and the best slow burn of a show. HIMYM was a gem! I had a short lived similar life to this group and the bar below when I lived in NYC. It’s really not absurd. And NPH ❤️

  • I wish he would have included The Middle. It’s not near as popular, but it’s an absolutely amazing show.

  • bro it comes at such irrelevant moment and distract us from the real joke it so annoying lol and most of the jokes are not even funny. like when they come into the room people are already laughing like in friends season 1 it was so annoying

  • This was honestly the most boring video of yours that I have seen. But, at least you didn't shove your wife in it. Well, at least not before I clicked off.

  • Would you consider playing a song from Holiday Beans on your show?

  • I just started watching Modern Family because it felt like The Office, and its awesome :D

  • Could you do a comparison between shows like I Love Lucy and then something like That 70's Show?

  • I’m rewatching this video and since then, I’ve gotten back into How I Met Your Mother, because it was something I watched growing up. And honestly while it has a lot of slow paced movements, (it took Ted nine seasons to actually reveal the mother) it’s a very heartfelt show tbh. My mom always pointed out that everything eventually connects. While there are a few empty space episodes, the majority of them all have a great lesson or moral. Some of the characters even reappear in later seasons, where they give plot significance. There are also a lot of gags that run through, along with easter eggs and minor details. Like if one of the characters has a yard sale, those items no longer come on set. There’s even a plot where one of the characters has a special locket in the last season, but in all of the earlier seasons, you can see said locket in the background in it’s box. It’s just such this detailed show for something so minor, and even things up to hair length are predetermined. They had filmed part of the ending on the first day of filming which still boggles my mind. I could probably list 100s of little trinkets that have so much relevance despite their size! It’s just this meaningful show filled with amazing quotes, thoughtful monologues, and plenty of sentimental moments, especially from this hopeless romantic. Idk, I just feel like the laugh track production added didn’t do it any justice whatsoever. It would still be pretty funny without the laugh track. It would probably even function as a single camera show, really. That’s the weird part, because shows like Friends or Big Bang Theory wouldn’t really do well with any other sort of function. Their success is attributed to their audiences who enjoy the format and the show itself. But for instance, myself- I’m a huge fan of single camera shows, yet I adore HIMYM for it’s content- especially in the earlier seasons. Even though it has these moments where it’s not realistic, I still generate it as this show that stood a lot of the test of time. You can care deeply about the set of characters, and even follow their storyline. Ik this is probably very dumbly and has nothing to do with anything, but it’s a good side note about how even though it has such an annoying format, it’s still on a slightly below level than shows like Community, The Office, or Parks and Rec

  • Drew you should watch Scrubs. I think you would like it, if you like Bojack Horseman

  • Yep I was 50% hating on Black tracks after watching this I'm a 100% hate them I see there dumb and old it need to stay in the 2010 and 80s

  • The office us was awful

  • God, I just have to say, this is the only channel where my favorite part or biggest laugh was from the plug. The hot dog bit KILLS me, and you better be doing your sponsors proud. For real, I shit when you said "basketball "

  • Dude what song is that in the ad at the end?

  • One thing I didn't realize until I read the wikipedia page for it was that M*A*S*H dosen't play the laugh track during the OR scenes. The producers didn't want a laugh track at all but the execs demanded it so they compromised to only have it during outside of the serious scenes.
